Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Free Agents Who Could Help Connor Bedard

The Chicago Blackhawks won the Connor Bedard sweepstakes and now turn their attention to the 2023-24 season. General manager Kyle Davidson has over $40 million in cap space to work with as his roster is very thin heading into next season. While don't expect too much out of the Blackhawks who are committed to rebuilding through the draft, owning six picks in the first two rounds of the 2023, here's a few free agents Chicago could target to get some help for Bedard:

Sean Monahan

One of the 'younger' names on the free-agent market this summer, Sean Monahan will have a number of teams interested. If he is looking for first-line minutes and a chance to play alongside Connor Bedard, he'll join the Blackhawks, if he's looking to insert himself further down a depth chart with a chance to win a Stanley Cup, he'll sign elsewhere. The 28-year-old Monahan recorded 17 points in 25 games last season with the Montreal Canadiens.

Milan Lucic

Nobody better to play security guard then veteran enforcer Milan Lucic. Remind yourself the Blackhawks aren't necessarily looking to win hockey games next season as they continue to rebuild and Lucic could do an ample job ensuring their prized possession is kept safe and sound all season long.

Jonathan Drouin

Speaking of players looking for a fresh start, Jonathan Drouin could be an option for the Blackhawks. His offensive instincts are off the charts and if paired with the sniper Bedard, these two could bring the Blackhawks faithful some joy throughout the season. He'd likely be interested in a one-year deal to prove himself once again and is a prime candidate to sign in Chicago. Drouin appeared in 58 games last season, recording 29 points.
