Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers Swing Trade

The Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers have swung a deal, as announced on the Oilers' social media platforms.

The Oilers acquired the rights to 2021 third-round draft pick, forward Jayden Grubbe from the Rangers in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round selection.

Grubbe was drafted 65th overall, and played 194 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, registering 39 goals and 95 assists for 134 points.

He'll have to sign by Thursday night, however, or the Oilers would lose his rights due to the expiring draft rights deadline.

Assuming a deal gets done, the 20-year-old, 6'2", 200-pound center, who is a Calgary, Alberta native, will now get a chance to start his professional career close to home.
