Maple Leafs Rumors: 3 GM Candidates to Replace Kyle Dubas

Toronto Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan sent shockwaves through the hockey world recently as he decided to let Kyle Dubas go from his position as general manager of the team. It was a sudden change of heart from the team president as contract extension talks were ongoing between him and Dubas. Now Toronto needs a new general manager and here's a few names you'll here linked:

Brad Treliving

Shanahan wants someone with experience and Brad Treliving certainly has a ton. He's one of the most experienced GM's on the open market, spending the last nine seasons as GM of the Calgary Flames. The only issue here is the fact Treliving didn't accomplish much in Calgary and we all have seen how the Tkachuk/Huberdeau looks one year in.

Brandon Pridham

If the Maple Leafs turn to someone with no experience as an NHL GM, it will be Brandon Pridham. He was the right-hand man for Kyle Dubas and is an absolute salary cap guru as he was one of the executives responsible for constructing it. The 49-year-old Pridham is the new point of contact for teams across the league as Shanahan was quick to give him more responsibility. We'll have to wait and see if this continues in the coming weeks.

Jason Botterill

One free-agent executive with a decorated resume is Jason Botterill. From NHL front office to hockey operations, to AGM or GM, he's basically done it all. Botterill is the assistant GM for the Seattle Kraken at the moment and is on the radar of several teams. He could be the perfect compliment of analytics and eye test. Something the Maple Leafs need more of moving forward.
