New York Islanders Rumors: Capitals Forward On Team's Radar

The New York Islanders are looking to add at least one winger this offseason. This was a major weakness for them this season, and now they are reportedly looking at Washington Capitals forward Anthony Mantha as a possible trade target because of it.

The Capitals shopped Mantha leading up to this year’s trade deadline, but they could not find a new home for the winger. However, with Mantha now entering the final season of his contract, it should be a bit easier for the Capitals to find him a new home. With the Islanders needing a bit more offense, there could be a good match here.

Mantha is coming off of a down season however, as he had just 11 goals and 27 points and 67 games. Yet, when looking at his past success in the NHL, he is heading into the new season as a clear bounce-back candidate. Perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what he needs to help make this come to fruition. We will need to wait and see if the Islanders end up bringing in the power forward from here.
