NHL Announces Finalists For General Manager Of The Year Award


The NHL has announced the finalists for the esteemed Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award for the 2022-23 season.

Among the contenders are Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars, Don Sweeney of the Boston Bruins, and Bill Zito of the Florida Panthers.

These talented individuals have showcased exceptional management skills and made significant contributions to their respective teams throughout the season.

Jim Nill, in his 10th season with the Dallas Stars, played a pivotal role in the team's success, leading them to their highest point total since 2015-16 and securing a spot in the Western Conference finals for the second time in four seasons. Nill made impactful signings, acquisitions, and contract extensions, strengthening the team's roster and setting them up for their impressive performance.

Don Sweeney, the general manager of the Boston Bruins, oversaw a historic season for the team, setting NHL records for wins and points. With notable signings and acquisitions, Sweeney played a key role in the team's success, positioning them as strong contenders throughout the season.

Bill Zito, in his third season as the Florida Panthers' general manager, led the team to their first conference finals appearance since 1996. Zito's strategic decisions, including key signings and a major trade, strengthened the team's depth and contributed to their impressive playoff run.

The winner of the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award will be revealed on June 28th, during the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft, adding to the anticipation of the event taking place in Nashville.
