Vancouver Canucks Rumors: Conor Garland to be Traded

The Vancouver Canucks are looking to shed salary this offseason and will be active on the trade market to do so. One name that's going to be linked to several trades is forward Conor Garland.

According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff Garland is a prime trade candidate for the Canucks:

The main focal point is that the Canucks are active on trying to move Conor Garland’s salary. You heard Brock Boeser say at the end of the season that he doesn’t really want to be traded. It’s still certainly possible that they find a new home for Boeser. And they always have a break glass in case of emergency play with J.T. Miller before his no-trade clause kicks in on July 1. Garland is someone they’ve really keyed in on with the term remaining on his deal he might provide some flexibility. So Garland is one name that they’ve been focusing on.

The 27-year-old forward is signed through the 2025-26 season, making $4.9 million per season. Garland finished a disappointing season in Vancouver with 46 points in 81 games.

Interested teams will include the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and the Detroit Red Wings. Vancouver will be active and we could see a Garland trade at the NHL Entry Draft next month.
