3 Free-Agent Destinations for Penguins Tristan Jarry

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a major decision to make this summer as new president Kyle Dubas will need to decide if Tristan Jarry is his number one goalie. Jarry hasn't lived up to the hype for the Penguins as his Stanley Cup Playoff numbers showcase nothing close to the type of play he's capable of. During the regular season, not many issues, however the Penguins are going to think long and hard about if they want to hand out a contract extension to the pending unrestricted free-agent netminder. If no deal in Pittsburgh, look for Jarry to land with one of these three teams:

Los Angeles Kings

While the Kings gave up some assets for Joonas Korpisalo last season, they haven't yet signed him to a contract extension for next season. With a recent three-way deal, LA has created plenty of cap space this summer to land a #1 goalie. The team may see Jarry as an upgrade and there could be some contract talks coming in a few weeks.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators should be considered a top contender for Jarry's services. The team is on the rise and next season could be a huge step forward for the franchise. Ottawa needs a starting goalie who is capable of carrying a heavy work load and with a ton of cap space, look for the Sens to be very aggressive on the free-agent market and Jarry is a name to circle in pen.

Detroit Red Wings

Another up and coming team, the Detroit Red Wings will be in the goalie market this summer. There's a ton of veteran options available so Jarry will have some competition. But given he's one of the youngest goalies available and with a solid career 117-60-20 career record, Steve Yzerman could be paying up for a new starter this summer.

Dubas admitted he's going to take a couple of weeks and go back and watch some of Jarry's game tape to evaluate. If the Penguins move in another direction, look for these three teams to be heavily involved.
