Boston Bruins Rumors: Dmitry Orlov Linked to New Team

It has been established that Dmitry Orlov is testing the free-agent market. He is one of the top defensemen available, and he will receive a ton of interest because of it. In a recent column for The Athletic, Pierre LeBrun wrote that the Calgary Flames could "take a swing" at Orlov in free agency.

The Flames should be on the hunt for a top-four left-shot defenseman this summer. Noah Hanifin is expected to be traded because he has made it clear that he does not want to re-sign with Calgary. Thus, bringing in another high-impact defenseman like Orlov would certainly be a wise decision.

Orlov is coming off of a solid season split between the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins. Appearing in 66 games, the 31-year-old posted seven goals, 36 points, and a plus-12 rating. He then followed that up with eight helpers in seven postseason contests.

Alas, it will be intriguing to see if the Flames make a major push for Orlov on July 1. He seems like a great fit on paper, but given his skill level, there will be an abundance of other teams calling him as well.
