Chicago Blackhawks Parting Ways With Defenseman

The Chicago Blackhawks have had a busy start to the offseason, acquiring Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno from the Boston Bruins. However, they are now making a subtraction to their roster, as they are not giving Caleb Jones a qualifying offer, according to his agent. Thus, the left-shot defenseman will be a UFA on July 1.

Jones will now be looking to find a new home. When noting that he is 26 years old, there should be some teams willing to take a chance on him. He has the ability to be a serviceable bottom-pairing defenseman. At a minimum, he would be a good seventh defenseman for a team looking to improve their depth.

Jones appeared in 73 games this past season, posting four goals, 16 assists, and a minus-19 rating. It was a year of mixed results for the Texas native, and now he will be aiming to turn things around with another team next season.

Alas, it will be intriguing to see where the 2015 fourth-round pick ends up landing from here.
