Columbus Blue Jackets Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The Columbus Blue Jackets have already made major moves this offseason, adding Ivan Provorov and Damon Severson to their roster. However, they now have a logjam of defensemen and are likely to move one out because of it. When noting that this is especially the case when it comes to their right side, Andrew Peeke is standing out as a prime trade candidate.

The Blue Jackets are unlikely to trade Adam Boqvist, and Erik Gudbranson's expensive cap hit will keep teams away. As a result, Columbus may have no choice but to move Peeke. Thankfully, he is a player who has good trade value, and he could land them a much-needed forward because of it.

Peeke has emerged as an effective shutdown defenseman, and there will be interest in his services because of it. In 80 games this season, the 6-foot-3 d-man posted six goals, 13 points, 197 blocks, and 180 hits. It will now be intriguing to see what happens with the Florida native from here but don't be surprised if he is dealt before free agency is here.
