Philadelphia Flyers Rumors: New Team Linked to Carter Hart

Philadelphia Flyers star goaltender Carter Hart has become one of the biggest names in the rumor mill. It has been reported by multiple sources that the Flyers are inching closer to moving the 24-year-old. Now, a new team has been brought up as a possible landing spot for him - the Montreal Canadiens.

In a recent episode of his 32 Thoughts podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman discussed that somebody suggested to him that the Canadiens could be a team who enters the Hart sweepstakes.

The Canadiens are currently sporting a Jake Allen-Sam Montembeault tandem. Yet, when noting that the Canadiens are rebuilding, they could look to move on from Allen if it means bringing in a major upgrade in Hart. If acquired, Hart would instantly become the Canadiens' long-term starting netminder, and it would be a major step forward in their rebuild.

The Canadiens are in a position to begin adding to their group, so it will be intriguing to see if Hart ends up becoming a trade target for them this summer. Time will tell what happens on that front.
