Second Player Rumored To Be Headed To Kings From Jets In Dubois Trade

The Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets are working hard to facilitate a trade involving Pierre-Luc Dubois and there seems to be a number of pieces involved. Heading back to the Jets could be Alex Iafallo, Gabe Vilardi, and more, but along with Dubois, Ken Wiebe notes that he expects one more player to head over to Los Angeles, Jansen Harkins.

The Kings are going to be close to the cap when all is said and done and they need some value players to fill their depth. Wiebe also notes that Harkins posted big numbers with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL last season and the 26-year-old is on a one-year, $850,000 deal that is a one-way.

He has more than 150 games of NHL experience and there just wasn't much room for him last season with the Jets, so he thrived in the AHL. After putting together a strong season and still getting 22 games in the NHL in 2022-23, Harkins' confidence should be high.

The Jets have a couple young players that should push for spots in preseason and also seem to be really altering their team. I don't believe there will be much of a chance for Harkins to play in the NHL on the Jets next season if he were to stay, especially if more than one NHLer is coming back in the trade. We might not have to wait long to see as the trade seems fairly close.
