Vancouver Canucks Rumors: 3 Possible Trade Destinations for Thatcher Demko

Nick Kypreos recently dropped a major rumor, saying that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko could be made available for trade at the draft. If this does in fact occur, there will surely be several teams interested in acquiring the 27-year-old. Let's discuss three specific clubs that should be in the mix for his services.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins are due for a major change in the net. Tristan Jarry struggled this season and is a pending free agent. Meanwhile, Casey DeSmith also proved to be unreliable when called upon. As a result, Demko stands out as a prime trade target for them, as he would give them a much-needed starter to work with.

Ottawa Senators: The Ottawa Senators are likely to make a push for Demko if he is made available. Although the Sens are on the rise, goaltending has continued to be a major issue for them. Cam Talbot underperformed in his lone season as a Senator, and GM Pierre Dorion has confirmed he will not be back next season. Therefore, they could look to bring in a proven starter like Demko.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes have some serious questions about their goaltending this offseason. Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta are both pending UFAs and could be gone because of it. Thus, if both goalies walk, look for the Hurricanes to make a push for Demko.
