NHL Rumors: Phil Kessel to Tampa Bay Lightning Heating Up

Phil Kessel has made it known that he is not ready to retire. The three-time Stanley Cup champion is still looking for his new home, and a potential free-agent destination is starting to emerge for him - the Tampa Bay Lightning.

After losing Alex Killorn to the Anaheim Ducks, the Lightning's forward group could certainly use another skilled winger. However, they also do not have the cap space to make any expensive additions for their top six. With Kessel not expected to make much money on his next deal, he stands out as a real option for Tampa Bay.

Kessel spent this past season with the Vegas Golden Knights, where he had 14 goals to go along with 36 points. Adding that kind of production to their middle six would be beneficial for the Lightning.

We will need to wait and see if the Lightning and Kessel agree to a contract from here.
