3 Players Coyotes Could Trade Next

For what seems like so long, the Arizona Coyotes have been rebuilding, trading off what assets they can, and taking on salaries others want to dump. This offseason changed that as they have now decided to add some decent pieces and try to get back into the playoffs. But this doesn't ensure anything. If they aren't in contention for a playoff spot come trade deadline, they will likely sell some of their pieces. Let's take a look at who the team could trade next.

Jason Zucker

Jason Zucker was the biggest addition the Coyotes brought in this offseason, and he should add a good amount of scoring and physicality to the top-six. He only signed a one-year deal as the salary cap is expected to go up next season and Arizona was one of the only places where he could get a nice payday this season. I expect him to be able to produce, but as I mentioned above, if the team isn't going to make the playoffs and Zucker doesn't show much interest in re-signing by that time, he is a great piece to move at the deadline.

Matt Dumba

Matt Dumba has struggled the past few seasons because he has dealt with injuries. This season he is hoping to prove that he can still be the top-end talent on the back-end that he was a number of years ago. He will be taking on a leadership role in Arizona as one of the oldest players on the team. He should be able to perform well in a top pairing role, but like Zucker, only signed a one-year deal and might be looking for a longer term somewhere else next season. Right defensemen aren't as easy to come by, and if he starts well, he could be a solid trade asset.

Karel Vejmelka

The Coyotes have some good goaltending depth now that they drafted three goalies, including Michael Hrabel, at the 2023 draft. Karel Vejmelka will likely start out as the starter in the Coyotes' crease, but Connor Ingram is hot on his tail after a solid rookie season. Ivan Prosvetov is also a third option in net if Vejmelka were to be moved at some point. If Ingram surpasses Vejmelka this season, teams will surely be interested once again in a goalie with starter potential on a great deal.
