Leafs Rumors: Avalanche Linked To William Nylander

The NHL rumor mill has been buzzing with speculation linking the Colorado Avalanche to the Toronto Maple Leafs' forward, William Nylander.

That being said, it's important to stress that this remains a rumor circulating within the league, lacking any official confirmation.

Until concrete information emerges, it should be regarded as nothing more than speculation.

The rumored scenario suggests that Nylander might potentially find himself traded to the Colorado Avalanche, with the proposed trade involving several key components.

To the Toronto Maple Leafs, it could bring defenseman Bowen Byram, currently under contract for two more seasons at $3.85 million per year, along with a 1st-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

Last season, Nylander racked up a career-best 40 goals and 87 points and his departure would be a massive loss to the Leafs' potent offense.

He was the eighth overall selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Maple Leafs.

However, for this trade to materialize, it's crucial to note that Nylander would need to agree to a long-term contract extension with the Avalanche.

Byram, the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, has amassed an impressive 15 goals and 43 points across his first 91 games in the NHL, along with a +15 plus/minus rating.

Over his eight-year career, spent entirely with Toronto, the 27-year-old has scored 177 goals and 430 total points over 521 games played.

Until more confirmation, it remains an intriguing but unconfirmed possibility in the world of NHL trade rumors. Photo Credit: Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports
