Mats Zuccarello To Stay In Minnesota For The Duration

Pending unrestricted free agent Mats Zuccarello said only yesterday, "I feel like I'm where I want to be. This is my home now." And indeed, it's now official, as the Minnesota Wild have signed the 13-year veteran to a two-year extension with a $4.125 AAV.

The extension, which includes a no-move clause for both years, kicks in next season and takes him through his age-38 season.

Age, however, hasn't slowed Zuccarello. The veteran Wild playmaking winger notched a career-high 20:12 TOI last year, while registering a career second-best 67 points with 22 goals and 45 assists (he exploded for a personal best 79 points the previous season). Playing on a line with 40-goal scorer Kirill Kaprizov has certainly re-invigorated his career.

He also set a new personal high with nine power play goals, and led the team in assists. In fact, since coming to the Wild four seasons ago, Zuccarello leads the team in total assists with 146.

In 13 NHL seasons, Zuccarello has 186 goals, 387 assists and 573 points in 766 games.
