Winnipeg Jets Re-Sign Declan Chisholm

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenseman Declan Chisholm to a one-year, two-way contract.

Chisholm, 23, appeared in his first two NHL games last season with the Jets, failing to get on the scoresheet. However, he was a notable force with the Jets' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, where he had five goals to go along with 43 points. His strong season also led to him being named to the AHL All-Star Classic.

Chisholm will be aiming to build off of his strong 2022-23 season, whether he is in the AHL or with the Jets. If he has a big training camp, he should receive some consideration for a seventh defenseman role. However, for his development, it may be better for him to start the year in the AHL in that case.

Nevertheless, the Jets have brought back one of their young promising defenseman with this move. We will need to wait and see if Chisholm takes another step forward in 2023-24 from here.
