Boston Bruins Make Decision With Alex Chiasson

While speaking with reporters, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said that the club has released Alex Chiasson from his professional tryout (PTO) contract.

Chiasson, 33, was hoping to land a deal with the Bruins, but now the veteran winger will be hoping to find work elsewhere. He was a bit quiet during the preseason, while fellow Bruins PTO signee Danton Heinen has stood out.

When noting that Chiasson has a good amount of NHL experience and finds plenty of success on the power play, there could be another team willing to sign him to a contract. In 20 games last season with the Detroit Red Wings, he had six goals to go along with nine points.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with Chiasson from here. If teams start to experience some injuries as training camp rolls on, perhaps a two-way contract could be in the cards for the 6-foot-4 forward from here.
