Connor McDavid is Expecting Big Things from Connor Bedard

Connor Bedard has taken the NHL by storm and the regular season hasn't even started yet. The Chicago Blackhawks rookie has been turning heads during the preseason and there's some big names across the league who have been put on notice.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has been paying a close eye to Bedard's start in Chicago and needless to say, McDavid is very impressed. The best player in the league had this to say about what Bedard's capable of with the Blackhawks:

It's a really, really hard league. It's a league full of grown men that have been playing for a long time, and you know what? He's a really special 18-year-old hockey player, and it'll take some time. I don't expect it to take all that much. He's that good. But I think that's just a reminder. It's a really, really hard league, and there's a lot of change going on at that age.

Everyone knew about Bedard's wrist shot but it's his playmaking abilities that have caught many by surprise. He's the odds-on-favorite to win the Calder trophy given to the league's best rookie and that's certainly warranted at this point.

Chicago is going to struggle to win games but Bedard won't struggle to put up points. Expect to see something around 80 points in 2023-24 for the former number one overall pick. And there's also going to be some funny moments throughout his first season like we saw out of this exchange with Marc-Andre Fleury.
