Flames Rumors: 3 Potential Trade Destinations For Elias Lindholm

The Calgary Flames have cut off contract talks with their players, which includes Elias Lindholm who the team has been desperately trying to sign for a while now. Since the team is struggling mightily, there will likely be some big changes on the horizon, starting with trading their top line centerman in the final year of his deal. If the Flames do, there will definitely be suitors. Here's a look at three strong candidates where Lindholm may end up this season.

Arizona Coyotes

The Arizona Coyotes have been pretty impressive this season so far with a record of 5-4-1. They have gotten contributions throughout their lineup, but there are certain areas that are lacking. Their centers include Logan Cooley, Barrett Hayton, Nick Bjugstad, and Jack McBain. If they are in the playoff race and want to continue to try to win and reward the effort, I can see them making a push for someone impactful down the middle. They have a seemingly endless supply of top three round draft picks in the next three years that they could use to send Calgary's way. This may even help them if they are looking to bring in someone like Lindholm in the offseason.

Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets haven't done good or bad yet this season, but it's early. While some may think that this is a retooling year, they have the pieces to win. What is lacking is the center position. Gabe Vilardi was playing well on the wing to start the season and I like Cole Perfetti on the wing as well. With Adam Lowry as the third line center, there is a big need for a second line center. A great two-way player like Lindholm could be a very nice addition and make this team a serious contender again.

Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche bolstered their forward group in the offseason, but for a Stanley Cup run, they may very well add more with the injury threat that always comes up with the team. Ryan Johansen hasn't been a bad second line center, but if he's shifted over to the wing or bumped to the third line with the addition of Lindholm, this team becomes Cup favourites. Lindholm helps with the defensive side of the game as well, and creates tons of depth up front, something the Avalanche were missing last postseason.
