Panthers Reveal Troubling Update on Sam Bennett's Latest Injury

It only took 8 minutes into Sam Bennett's season debut for the Florida Panthers for him to go down once again with an awkward and painful-looking injury. Now, head coach Paul Maurice has revealed that the hard-hitting forward will be out for another period of time.

“He’s not day-to-day. He’s going to be a little longer," said Maurice. "We don’t think it is as significant as the first. We’ll see how he feels. What happens in the first 3 days will tell us how long it’s going to be."

Bennett missed the first seven games of the season with a lower-body injury, and then in his first game back was knocked down at the side of the Boston Bruins net and had his ankle and leg fold awkwardly under him.

Bennett had to be helped off the ice, in obvious pain, and was unable to put any weight on his left ankle and leg. His return, as noted by Maurice, is unclear at this point.
