2 Upgrades Vancouver Canucks Need In The New Year

The Vancouver Canucks entered the Christmas break as the top team in the league. They had an impressive start and have continued that throughout the season so far. While many wait for them to fall off a bit, to avoid that, they are going to be busy solidifying their roster.

Top-4 RD

The Canucks already added Nikita Zadorov and traded away Anthony Beauvillier beforehand to do so. That might shore up the left side of the defense and add some size, but the right side still needs work. Tyler Myers is better suited for the third pairing, so bringing in another defender so that he can be moved down would be the ideal scenario.

3rd Line Centre

The third line of the Canucks shouldn't be touched right now, but eventually I suspect that the production is going to fall off. The team has a few options for center in the bottom-six, but I would argue that Teddy Blueger would be a strong fourth line center on a Stanley Cup contender. If the Canucks can find someone who can do it all for their third line center position, it would give them a lot of room to work with and shuffle combinations around when needed. It will be needed. Dakota Joshua and company are not going to keep going at a near point-per-game pace as they have been for the last two weeks+.
