Columbus Blue Jackets Goalie Likely Headed To Waiver Wire

The Columbus Blue Jackets are contemplating the possibility of placing goaltender Spencer Martin on waivers in the near future.

This decision comes as Daniil Tarasov is set to return from his AHL conditioning stint. Martin recently faced the Boston Bruins, allowing three goals on 28 shots in a 3-1 loss.

His performance this season, coupled with the impending return of Tarasov, has raised questions about Martin's future with the team.

Martin carries a very budget-friendly cap hit of $762,500, which could make him an attractive option for teams in need of goaltending depth.

Thus far this season, the 28-year-old holds a .902 save percentage, 3.20 GAA, and a 2-6-1 record over 10 games played (8 starts).

The Edmonton Oilers, in particular, have been scouting various teams for goaltending help, and they might be keeping a close watch on Martin's situation if he becomes available on waivers.

However, the Oilers' decision could be influenced by their ongoing consideration regarding the recall of Jack Campbell from their AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, adding complexity to their goaltending choices. Photo Credit: Russell LaBounty-USA TODAY Sports
