Insider Says Senators Forward Getting Interest From Teams, Will Be Traded

As the Ottawa Senators are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings, albeit with games in hand, there was inevitably going to start being interest shown in some of their tradable assets this season. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reported that "The Senators have had some calls on (Dominik) Kubalik, who scored 20 goals last season, and he'll definitely be moved before the deadline."

The Senators are 13-17-0 and Kubalik has been a third line winger for them this season. The top-six is packed, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good middle-six player for another team in the playoff hunt if or when he's traded. The bottom-six can also be filled internally with the inevitable return of Shane Pinto and the three forwards that will be coming back from injury, very likely before the trade deadline, Mathieu Joseph, Zack MacEwen, and Rourke Chartier.

Kubalik was part of the Alex Debrincat return package, but he hasn't been as impressive this season in Ottawa due to less opportunity. He has just seven goals and nine points in 30 games. His underperformance has not only hurt the Senators, it has hurt his value. But, the right move is for the team to move him as he is in the last year of his contract at $2.5 million AAV. That is a decent price for a player like him and he should pick up his offense on a new team.
