Kraken Rumors: Alex Wennberg Trade Talk Soon To Heat Up

The Seattle Kraken have continued to fall to the depths of the league this season as they just can't find ways to win. After seeing what they are doing, it is clear that they overachieved last season and the magic has worn off. Their average defense and below average goaltending hasn't been saved by their depth scoring this season. As they struggle to earn points, the more trade discussion will surround them.

It would be in the best interest of the Kraken to see what interest is out there for some of their players, particularly the upcoming UFAs like Alex Wennberg. Although he isn't the most offensive player, he has been known to produce. What he brings to the table is a much better all around game than teams can normally find for cheap. This centerman has been playing big minutes this season again for this team and knows how to pass the puck.

On a contender, Wennberg would be a strong third line center with the ability to move into the top-six easily and perform if there's an injury. I see him going to a contender at some point this season, but unless there is a player on the LTIR from the team acquiring him, the Kraken are going to have to eat some of his cap for the remainder of this season. The general manager has preached about the process, that being focusing on the long-term goal. Selling assets would go a long way in helping towards this goal, so Wennberg will be on his way out this season. There are a lot of players who are fighting for spots that would benefit from an opportunity.
