NHL Rumors: 2 Centres Linked To Colorado Avalanche

The Colorado Avalanche have emerged as key players in the ongoing trade discussions surrounding centers Joel Eriksson Ek of the Minnesota Wild and Boone Jenner from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Now that Jenner is out for the next six weeks, however, the Avalanche will likely pivot to Eriksson Ek even more.

In their quest for a reliable second-line center to strengthen their Stanley Cup aspirations, the Avalanche have honed in on these two talented players.

However, the team faces significant hurdles in their pursuit, primarily due to salary cap constraints and a limited pool of tradeable assets.

While Joel Eriksson Ek and Boone Jenner are undoubtedly desirable acquisitions, the Avalanche may need to explore more financially feasible options to address their center position effectively.

The 26-year-old Eriksson Ek, coming off a career-best season, has picked up right where he left off, scoring 13 goals and 20 total points across 25 games played this season.

Jenner is also coming off one of the best seasons of his 11-year career, and is off to a nice start this season, amassing 13 goals and 18 points over 28 games played. Photo Credit: Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports
