Penguins Rumors: Jake Guentzel Becoming Trade Candidate

The Pittsburgh Penguins have had a very tough start to the 2023-24 season. They have won just four out of their last 10 games and now are seventh in the Metropolitan Division. Because of this, there's a real chance that they could be sellers this season, and Jake Guentzel is starting to pick up some steam as a trade candidate.

Guentzel is in the final season of his contract and will have the opportunity to test free agency this upcoming summer if he does not sign an extension. With Guentzel being a star, the Penguins are likely going to want to try to keep him around before moving him. Yet, if they prove to be too apart and the Pens are out of a playoff spot as we get closer to the deadline, we could very well see him dealt.

Guentzel would immediately because one of the top trade targets in the league if he is officially shopped. We will now need to wait and see what happens with the skilled winger at the deadline from here.
