8 NHL All-Stars Roster Changes For More Deserving Players

The NHL All-Star selections have once again given us players that shouldn't be All-Stars and left out clear All-Star players. Since the NHL insists on including one player from every team in All-Star weekend, this brings with it bad selections and weakens the competition.

Even fan voting sways the results more than the NHL does with its initial selections. So we're going to look at the eight players who were selected that shouldn't have been and why, then look at eight players who should be in instead.

The players that shouldn't be going to All-Star weekend include Frank Vatrano, Elias Lindholm, Boone Jenner, Nick Suzuki, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Tom Wilson, Tomas Hertl, and Alexandar Georgiev. Let's go over their stats to show you why.

Vatrano - 21 goals, 31 points in 42 games
Lindholm - 8 goals, 28 points in 43 games
Jenner - 13 goals, 18 points in 29 games
Suzuki - 12 goals, 35 points in 42 games
Bjorkstrand - 12 goals, 34 points in 42 games
Wilson - 11 goals, 19 points in 39 games
Hertl - 13 goals, 30 points in 42 games
Georgiev - 24-9-2 record, .897 SV%, 2 shutouts

From normal standards of being an All-Star, none of these players are. They are just maybe the best choice on their teams. These are who the actual All-Stars should be instead: Artemi Panarin, Mikko Rantanen, Evan Bouchard, Noah Dobson, Zach Hyman, Jake Guentzel, Aleksander Barkov, and Joey Daccord. This is what they have done this season.

Panarin - 26 goals, 58 points in 41 games
Rantanen - 22 goals, 55 points in 43 games
Bouchard - 10 goals, 40 points in 39 games
Dobson - 6 goals, 43 points in 42 games
Hyman - 26 goals, 42 points in 38 games
Guentzel - 19 goals, 46 points in 41 games
Barkov - 11 goals, 45 points in 39 games
Daccord - 13-5-8 record, .923 SV%, 2 shutouts

The only way some of these players get in and others who are much more deserving aren't All-Stars is because every team needs representation. These aren't All-Stars and this makes up one quarter of the All-Star roster. I think it's better for the game and more fun for fans to see all deserving All-Stars, not what they are continuing to do.
