Blackhawks Claim Forward Off Waivers From Coyotes

The Chicago Blackhawks have once again added to their forward group, as they have claimed winger Zach Sanford off of waivers from the Arizona Coyotes.

This news comes just a few hours after the Blackhawks acquired fellow forward Rem Pitlick from the Pittsburgh Penguins. It is understandable that the Blackhawks are adding to their forward group, as both Connor Bedard and Nick Foligno have been placed on injured reserve (IR).

This Sanford addition is nothing more than a depth move. The veteran winger gives the Blackhawks another option for their bottom six and gives them a little bit more experience, too. Sanford has seven years of experience and notably won the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues back in 2019.

In 11 games this season with the Coyotes, Sanford has two assists to go along with a plus-3 rating. Overall, he did not make the biggest offensive impact when used by the Yotes, but now he will be looking to heat up with this move to the Blackhawks.

This is the second waiver claim that the Blackhawks have made this week, as they also added defenseman Jaycob Megna from the Seattle Kraken. The injury bug just won't stop hitting the Blackhawks, and it will be intriguing to see if they make more additions to their group in the upcoming days because of it.
