Canadiens Rumors: 8 Possible Suitors Named for Sean Monahan

Montreal Canadiens center Sean Monahan is one of the top trade targets heading into the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. He is not only having a strong season (11 goals and 31 points in 46 games), but he also has an affordable contract. Because of this, he is going to generate a ton of interest from teams looking to improve at the center position before the trade deadline passes.

When playing at his best, Monahan has the ability to be a quality middle-six center, and several teams in the NHL could certainly use that. Due to this, in a recent article for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli listed the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, and Winnipeg Jets as all potential suitors for Monahan.

Teams like the Bruins, Rangers, Maple Leafs, Canucks, and Jets have been viewed as a potential landing spot for Monahan before, but the Oilers and Panthers are new clubs to keep an eye on. However, it also would make sense for them to bring him in, as their third lines could use more production, and he would, of course, give them that.

As we get closer to the deadline, it would not be surprising in the slightest if more playoff teams consider Monahan as an option. He is having a nice bounce-back year, and he could be a big addition to a contender because of it.
