Flames Lose 2 Players Through Waivers

The Calgary Flames have lost two players, as forward Adam Ruzicka has been claimed off waivers by the Arizona Coyotes, while defenseman Nick Desimone has been scooped up by the New Jersey Devils.

When it was announced that Ruzicka was placed on waivers, it was expected that he would get claimed. This is because he is a young forward who has a very cheap cap and had 20 points in 44 games just last season. Although he has struggled this campaign (three goals and nine points in 39 games), he has good upside, and a change of scenery may be what helps him turn his campaign around.

With the Coyotes still building their roster, there is no harm in them taking a chance on Ruzicka. He should be a solid part of their bottom six moving forward.

As for Desimone, he is joining a Devils team that needs defensive depth right now. They have injuries on the blue line, and Cal Foote recently took a leave of absence. As a result, they have brought in another right-shot defenseman who can fill in as a depth piece.

With these waiver losses, the Flames now have two open spots on their roster. We will now need to wait and see how well these two perform for their new clubs from here.
