Flames Rumors: Noah Hanifin to Metro Team Heating Up

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin is one of the most notable trade candidates as we get closer to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, and he has been linked to multiple teams because of it. The New Jersey Devils have been connected to him all season, and there is more trade chatter surrounding Hanifin potentially landing there. According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, trade talks between the Devils and Flames about Hanifin are occurring.

In his recent article for The Fourth Period, Pagnotta had this to say on the Hanifin to New Jersey trade talk: "As we’ve reported this week, the Calgary Flames have been engaged in trade talks involving some of their players, including – and more specifically – their defencemen. Noah Hanifin, ranked No.2 on the TFP Trade Watch List, has been on a few teams’ radars, including the New Jersey Devils. Trade talks seem to be ongoing, and this could be something that materializes leading up to the deadline, if not much sooner."

It is not surprising to hear that the Devils are making a push for Hanifin. They are struggling with consistency this season and could use some help on the blue line, especially with Dougie Hamilton out with a long-term injury. Hanifin would give them another top-pairing defenseman to work who would work on both their power play and penalty kill.

We will now need to wait and see if these ongoing trade talks result in a Hanifin trade between the Devils and Flames from here.
