NHL Rumors: Senators & Stars Emerging as Trade Candidates

The Ottawa Senators are gearing up to being sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, as they are once again one of the worst teams in the NHL. As a result of this, pending UFA Vladimir Tarasenko is expected to be moved to a playoff team.

The Dallas Stars, on the other hand, are one of the top teams in the NHL and are going to be buyers. One area that they are expected to try to improve is their top six. As a result of this, Tarasenko is standing out as a prime trade target for them over the next several weeks.

Tarasenko would be a major addition to the Stars' roster, as he would give them another difference-maker forward for their top six and their power play. This would certainly be beneficial, as it would only make them a more difficult team to go up against in the Western Conference.

The Senators are in a position to retain some salary in a potential move, too, as Tarasenko has an expiring contract. This, in turn, could help improve the return they would get for him from the Stars or another club in the NHL.

It will be fun to see what happens with Tarasenko from here. On paper, he looks like a great fit for the Stars, but several other clubs will also be in the mix.
