Rangers Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Kaapo Kakko

On a recent installment of Insider Trading, NHL insider Darren Dreger reported that New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury is taking calls on Kaapo Kakko.

When noting that Kakko is a former second-overall pick with good upside, some clubs could be willing to take a chance on him, even if he has struggled this season. Let's discuss three of them now.

Montreal Canadiens: The Montreal Canadiens certainly stand out as a team that could take a shot on Kakko. They need more high-impact wingers, and Kakko has the potential to become one. On the Habs, he would likely be given top-six minutes and be used on their power play, so his offense would have the potential to improve.

San Jose Sharks: The San Jose Sharks are another team that could express interest in Kakko. He would fit perfectly into their current rebuild, as he is still only 22 years old. With that, he would likely be used on their first line, as their forward depth is quite weak this season.

Chicago Blackhawks: The Chicago Blackhawks have been connected to Kappo in the past, so they also stand out as a possible landing spot for the young winger. He would be given more chances if acquired by Chicago and would also have the chance to grow his game with a potential generational talent in Connor Bedard.

We will now need to wait and see if any of these three teams land Kakko before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes from here.
