Red Wings Rumors: New Team Connected to Jonatan Berggren

Detroit Red Wings forward Jonatan Berggren has come up in the rumor mill often this season, and there is a good chance that we will see him moved before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes because of it. When noting that he is a young forward with upside, the Red Wings could use him to bring in a player who would better their roster immediately for their playoff push.

The Montreal Canadiens are one team connected to Berggren this season, but now, it appears that another club has him on their radar. According to The Fourth Period, the Ottawa Senators are now linked to him.

The Senators are in an interesting spot heading toward the deadline. They are expected to sell off some of their players, but it is also clear that they are not against the prospect of adding to their roster, either. Due to this, it makes sense that Berggren is a player they are looking to add.

Berggren, 23, has appeared in nine games this season with the Red Wings, where he has two goals and five points. Down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapid Griffins, he has been lighting it up, posting 13 goals and 34 points in 30 games.

Berggren has the tools to be an effective middle-six forward in the NHL, and joining the Senators could be the spark he needs to take that next step. Let's see if the Red Wings and Sens strike a deal involving him before the deadline from here.
