Senators Rumors: Jakob Chychrun Trade Chatter Picking Up

The Ottawa Senators have had a brutal 2023-24 season, and we could see big changes to their roster before the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline passes because of it. Two Senators' forwards who have been picking up a lot of steam in the trade rumor mill are Vladimir Tarasenko and Dominik Kubalik, but now there is another notable name to pay attention to - Jakob Chychrun. According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the star defenseman's name is out on the trade market.

Pagnotta had this to say in a recent piece for The Fourth Period on the matter:

According to separate sources, Staios is willing to entertain trade offers for Chychrun, who has one more year left on his contract and owns a 10-team no-trade list. It is unclear if the Senators are actively shopping the 25-year-old blueliner, but that may fall into the ‘semantics’ category.

He also had this to say about the latest Chychrun trade buzz:

Speaking to a GM this week of a team who previously expressed interest in Chychrun, he confirmed he’s heard Chychrun’s name out there but would not dive any further into the topic.

The Senators acquired Chychrun just last season, but the team's struggles could lead to another move centering around the left-shot defenseman. Pagnotta also noted that there has been talk that Chychrun "may not be a fit in the Senators' room."

Chychrun, 25, has appeared in 38 games this season with the Sens, where he has seven goals and 26 points. Expect to see several teams look to add him at the deadline, just like last season.
