NHL Rumors: Blue Jackets & Coyotes Becoming Possible Trade Partners

The Columbus Blue Jackets are expected to be among the NHL's top sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, as they have struggled mightily this season. Top offseason addition Ivan Provorov has been picking up a lot of steam in the rumor mill because of it.

The Arizona Coyotes, on the other hand, are likely to sell off some of their pending UFAs before the deadline passes. However, due to their improved play this season, they also have been eyeing top-four defensemen. With the team needing help on their left side, Provorov could be a player on their radar.

Provorov is under contract beyond this season, so he would make sense for a team like the Coyotes. This is because he would be more than a rental for them, and he would immediately become their top left-shot defenseman in the process.

Provorov, 27, has appeared in 51 games this season with the Blue Jackets, where he has four goals to go along with 23 points. Overall, it has been a solid season for him offensively, and the Coyotes could use a player like him on their roster because of it. This is especially so when noting that he would be a big addition to both their power play and their penalty kill.

We will need to wait and see if the Coyotes and Blue Jackets strike a deal centering around Provorov before the trade deadline passes from here.
