Penguins Rumors: 3 Teams Linked to Reilly Smith

The Pittsburgh Penguins have had a very disappointing 2023-24 season, and they are likely to be sellers at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline because of it. One player who has come up in the rumor mill a lot over the last several weeks is forward Reilly Smith. The fit has just not been there in Pittsburgh, and a change of scenery could be on the way because of it.

Due to this, Emily Kaplan of ESPN named the Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes all as good fits for the veteran Smith.

The Golden Knights and Smith certainly know each other well, as he just finished a six-year stint with the club and was a key part of their roster throughout it. With the Golden Knights dealing with injuries and Smith being a former core player for them, perhaps a reunion could make sense.

The Panthers are also another former team of Smith's. When noting that they could use another middle-six forward, it would not be too surprising to see them make a push for him. He would give them a bit more experience and scoring.

As for the Hurricanes, they have been looking for forward help, and Smith would have the potential to be a good fit on their roster. He would likely play second-line minutes if acquired and would be a welcomed addition to their power play.
