Coyotes Rumors: Matt Dumba To Be Traded By Arizona

Add another one to the list.

The Arizona Coyotes are making defenseman Matt Dumba a healthy scratch in tonight's game for "trade-related purposes."

Coach André Tourigny has confirmed Dumba's absence, signaling a strategic move by the team, possibly orchestrated by General Manager Bill Armstrong.

Dumba's absence from the lineup all but assures his departure from the Coyotes.

This season, Dumba has four goals, six assists, 10 total points, a -13 plus/minus rating, 84 blocked shots, and 150 hits across 58 games played.

His pending unrestricted free agency status, signed a one-year, $3.9 million contract signed last summer, make him a potentially affordable addition for teams seeking additional defensive depth.

Among the interested parties in recent weeks are rumored to be the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, and others.

With the trade deadline less than a day away, the Coyotes are aiming to secure assets in exchange for the 29-year-old defenseman before time runs out. Photo Credit:  Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports
