TRADE: Panthers Make Another Addition By Acquiring Okposo

The Florida Panthers have made another addition to their team as they have acquired the Buffalo Sabres' captain Kyle Okposo. Being sent to Buffalo in the trade is Calle Sjalin and a conditional 2024 seventh-round pick. If the Panthers win the Stanley Cup, that seventh-rounder turns into a fifth-round pick.

The Sabres already proved that they were willing to sell and set themselves up for the future when they swapped Casey Mittelstadt for Bowen Byram, but moving Okposo just made sense in a season like this one. He is a UFA after the season and is 35 years old. He has been a great leader for the Sabres and comes into a great team in the Panthers for a Cup run.

Okposo has mainly played on the fourth line and should continue to do so in Florida, giving them even more depth up front after already adding Vladimir Tarasenko. If the Panthers weren't already the leading favourites to win the Stanley Cup, these moves may have put them over the top, and there's no signs Florida is done adding.
