Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Offseason Suitors for Tyler Johnson

Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Johnson has quietly been having a solid 2023-24 season. In 59 games this season, he has 16 goals to go along with 29 points. He is showing the league that he can still be a decent secondary scorer, and there should be plenty of interest in him during the offseason in free agency because of it. Let's go over three specific clubs who could target him now.

New York Rangers: The New York Rangers were connected to Johnson leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. Due to this, they are certainly a team to pay attention to when it comes to Johnson. They have multiple pending UFAs and could look to improve their bottom six with a player like Johnson because of it. This is especially so if they can get him at a cheap price.

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Tampa Bay Lightning could consider reuniting with Johnson this offseason. Their bottom six could use more scoring, and he would, of course, provide them with just that. Along with that, he also has played with multiple players on the Lightning's roster before, so the chemistry would be there.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins have had a rough season and could look to add more scoring to the bottom portion of their lineup this offseason because of it. Bringing in Johnson on a short-term deal could be good for a Pens team that needs more secondary scoring.
