Blackhawks Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Connor Murphy

The Chicago Blackhawks are preparing for what should be a busy offseason. One player who has been creating some buzz as a trade candidate is Connor Murphy. It makes sense, as he is an effective shutdown defenseman who could be a notable addition to a team’s right side. Because of this, let’s discuss three teams that could look to add him this offseason.

Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes have multiple pending UFA defenseman heading into the offseason. This is especially the case when it comes to their right side, as Brett Pesce, Jalen Chatfield, and Tony DeAngelo are all pending UFAs. Thus, they could look at a player like Murphy if they lose multiple d-men.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars could be in the market for a right-shot defenseman this offseason. This is especially so if the Stars can’t find a way to bring back Chris Tanev this offseason. In either scenario, Murphy would be a nice addition to the Stars’ bottom pairing and penalty kill if acquired.

New Jersey Devils: The New Jersey Devils are expected to add to their defense this offseason after a rough 2023-24 season. They certainly could use a steady shutdown defenseman on their right side, and Murphy would be a pretty good option for them because of it.
