Blues Rumors: Latest on Pavel Buchnevich's Future in St. Louis

Leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich generated a lot of trade chatter around the league. However, once deadline day came and went, Buchnevich was not moved by the club.

With the Blues missing the playoffs, there naturally has been some speculation over the prospect of them hearing offers for Buchnevich over the summer. However, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Blues are expected to try to sign Buchnevich to an extension.

Buchnevich is a key part of the Blues' forward group, as he is one of their top point producers. Because of this, it is not too shocking to hear that they are at least going to try to get him signed to a contract extension. He's a great talent and would be worth keeping around if he is open to the idea of it.

Buchnevich, 29, played in 80 games this season for the Blues, where he had 27 goals to go along with 63 points. It was a down year for his standards, but his numbers were still quite solid. However, after posting back-to-back seasons with over a point per game, he is a clear bounce-back candidate heading into 2024-25.
