Devils Rumors: 3 Goalies Listed as Trade Targets

The New Jersey Devils had a truly disappointing 2023-24 season. After an outstanding 2022-23 season that saw him be one of the NHL's top teams, they took a monstrous step back this year and missed the playoffs. Goaltending was their biggest issue all season, and there's a clear understanding that they will look to add a true starter between the pipes this summer because of it.

Due to this, the Fourth Period listed Jacob Markstrom (Calgary Flames), Linus Ullmark (Boston Bruins), and Juuse Saros (Nashville Predators) as three potential trade targets for the Devils this offseason.

Markstrom is clearly a goalie to watch when it comes to the Devils. The Devils almost acquired him before this year's deadline, but the deal ended up not coming to fruition. Yet, given the Devils' known interest in Markstrom, they are surely going to make another push for him.

Ullmark is likely to be dealt by the Bruins this offseason. He reportedly blocked a trade before the deadline passed, and Boston is likely to test his market again during the summer. Jeremy Swayman is due for a raise, while Ullmark will be entering the final year of his deal. Thus, the Devils could be in the mix for him.

As for Saros, the Devils have been connected to him, and they certainly could try to land him this offseason. The Predators have a big decision to make with Saros, as he is inching closer to being a UFA. With that, Yaroslav Askarov is looking ready for the NHL and is expected to be a high-impact netminder.
