This upcoming offseason, amidst the New Jersey Devils' quest to address their defensive shortcomings and rejuvenate their roster after a challenging campaign, one name has emerged as a potential target, according to James Nichols: defenseman Chris Tanev.

Tanev's reputation for defensive reliability and veteran leadership aligns seamlessly with the Devils' objectives, making him a prime target in their offseason plans.

General Manager Tom Fitzgerald, at the helm of the Devils' strategic maneuvers, could potentially view Tanev as a crucial component in the team's revitalization efforts. Despite concerns surrounding Tanev's age and injury history, he continues to have a strong impact on stabilizing their defensive unit he's with.

Since being traded to the Stars in March, Tanev has recorded one goal, four assists, five total points, a +6 plus/minus rating, and 36 blocked shots across 19 games played.
