Edmonton Oilers' 3 Best Contracts of 2023-24

The Edmonton Oilers had an early-season blunder, but have fully recovered and are a threat to win the Stanley Cup. With that being said, it has been a great team effort to do so and there are more than three players with good contracts on the team. While these names won't appear below as arguably the three best, let's take note of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Stuart Skinner, Corey Perry, and Warren Foegele as well.

Leon Draisaitl

Considering Leon Draisaitl is widely regarded as a top-five player in the NHL considering how he can produce and take over a game, he has been wildly underpaid for a while now. At just $8.5 million AAV, the Oilers have benefited from the money they saved compared to so many other players getting much more money each season. He is one goal off another 40 goal season and 100 point season through 73 games and averages nearly 21 minutes per game of ice time.

Zach Hyman

Zach Hyman is one of the best free agent signings the NHL has seen and there's no arguing that. He has progressively gotten better over the seasons he's been on the Oilers and at a price tag of $5.5 million AAV, he is already at 52 goals this season with nine games to go, not to mention a point-per-game player once again with 72 points in 72 games. He works very hard and is very good at getting to the right spots around the net to help produce goals. The Oilers still have him for four more years.

Evan Bouchard

Evan Bouchard is top-three in scoring from a defenseman this season and not getting as much attention as he deserves for his rise on the Oilers' blueline. He's underrated in his own end and incredibly talented in the offensive zone, with or without the best player in the world on the ice. Bouchard is in the first of a two-year deal with a cap hit of $3.9 million AAV and has 16 goals and 76 points in 73 games this season. He is only 24 years old.
