Flyers Rumors: Latest on John Tortorella's Future in Philly

Heading into the 2023-24 season, the Philadelphia Flyers were expected to be among the NHL's worst teams. However, the rebuilding club shocked the hockey world by being competitive and holding a playoff spot for the vast majority of the season. Yet, they have, unfortunately, fallen back down to Earth big time down the stretch, losing each of their last eight games. Because of this, they are now behind the New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, and Pittsburgh Penguins in the Metropolitan Division.

Due to the Flyers' significant struggles down the stretch, there has been some speculation over head coach John Tortorella's future behind the bench. However, NHL insider Darren Dreger put an end to this rumor by reporting this on X: "We can all appreciate the speculation.  And when it comes to John Tortorella and the stories that follow, there’s always speculation. As for his future as head coach…a Flyers management source says “Torts is not leaving the bench”.  He still has the fire…no question about that."

Given the fact that Dreger heard this from a Flyers management source, we should fully expect Torts behind the bench for the Flyers next season. The real question from is here, will the Flyers be able to build off of their solid 2023-24 campaign next season? Time will tell.
