Insider Pinpoints Two Specific Goals for Buffalo Sabres This Summer

The off-season tuneup has already begun for the Buffalo Sabres with the firing of Coach Don Granato. But there's lots more to come, and according to the insiders at The Fourth Period, there are two specific areas of need Sabres GM Kevyn Adams will be looking at.
The Sabres are believed to be interested in adding a top-six scoring winger and a third line centre to their roster this off-season, either via trades or free agency. It is unclear whom Adams may specifically target at this point, but after laying some groundwork ahead of the trade deadline, he could pick up where he left off in the coming weeks.

Adams made a huge move at the deadline, shipping out pending UFA Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a potentially elite defenseman in Bowen Byram. The loss of center Mittelstadt cost Buffalo some offense, however, which they are apparently now going to try to address on the wing.

The team may not bring back any of their UFAs, Victor Olofsson, Zegmus Girgensons, Tyson Jost or Eric Robinson.

Star forward Tage Thompson says whatever they do, there needs to be more accountability.

Should be an interesting summer in Buffalo, as the Sabres will try once again to put an end next season to their 13-year playoff drought.
