Montreal Canadiens Sign Promising Prospect

The Montreal Canadiens have made another move, as they have signed promising prospect Florian Xhekaj to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Xhekaj is now officially a part of the Canadiens' organization with this brother, Arber Xhekaj. When noting that it was announced earlier on Tuesday (April 9) that Arber would miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery, it is nice to get some positive news with his brother getting this ELC.

Xhekaj, 19, was selected by the Canadiens with the 101st overall pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2 winger took a major step in the right direction during this campaign with the Brantford Bulldogs. In 63 games with the club, he set new career highs with 34 goals, 31 assists, and 65 points. As a result, this is a pick that the Habs must be quite happy about already.

Besides having a strong scoring touch, Xhekaj also has garnered plenty of buzz for his immense physicality. If he continues to develop in the right direction, he could become an impactful power forward for the Canadiens later down the road.

We will now need to wait and see how much of an impact he makes for the Canadiens later down the road from here.
